Sources show they’ll do a background check sometime during the hiring process.
Here’s what you need to know about background checks:
Not all background checks are created equal. In fact, what they cover depends on what state you live in. For example, if you live in one of the following states, they won’t see anything from seven years ago or more:
- California
- Colorado*
- Kansas*
- Maryland*
- Massachusetts
- Montana
- Nevada
- New Hampshire*
- New York*
- Texas*
- Washington*
(* sometimes certain pay or salary bracket positions require one.)
And, the eight states on this list don’t consider any not guilty verdicts:
- Alaska
- California
- Hawaii
- Indiana (limited check)
- Kentucky
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- New York
However, there are still some states that’ll see your whole record, including any cases where you were found not guilty. Be aware if your state is on this list:
- Alabama
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Connecticut
- DC
- Delaware
- Florida
- Idaho
- Indiana (extensive check)
- Iowa
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Utah
- Vermont
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming

While most say the company has a good working environment and there are good advancement opportunities, others say the hours are long and there are unrealistic expectations from upper management.
What felonies Dish Network will not hire
While we can make educated guesses as to the felonies most likely to hold you back (and we did, in the next section), we can’t share specifics with you because the company didn’t tell us.
What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?
Does Dish Network hire felons? It looks like they do, but certain felonies will hurt your chances.
If you’re looking for a customer service position, larceny could make it tougher. If you’re applying for a driver or installer position and your record includes driving convictions, violent crimes, drug- or alcohol-related charges, or theft, then you might have a problem getting the job. The restrictions for jobs that visit people’s homes is stricter.
Does Dish Network hire sex offenders?
Dish didn’t tell us if they’ll hire people with sex offenses on their records or not. We didn’t find any support for it online, either.
Does Dish Network drug test?
Our reports show that Dish Network will drug screen.
