TransAm Trucking does do background checks.
However, there are some things that you will want to know that change based on where you live.
For example, some states don’t look back further than seven years. Here are those states:
- California
- Colorado*
- Kansas*
- Maryland*
- Massachusetts
- Montana
- Nevada
- New Hampshire*
- New York*
- Texas*
- Washington*
(*States with asterisks may have different background check rules depending on the pay bracket.)
There are also states that will only include crimes that you were found guilty of. If you live in any of these places, you won’t need to worry about not guilty convictions showing up in the background check.
- Alaska
- California
- Hawaii
- Indiana (limited check)
- Kentucky
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- New York
Unfortunately, though, there are still many states that include your entire background. This even includes cases where you were found not guilty. In these states, TransAm gets to learn about everything:
- Alabama
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Connecticut
- DC
- Delaware
- Florida
- Idaho
- Indiana (extensive check)
- Iowa
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Utah
- Vermont
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming

What felonies TransAm Trucking will not hire
The company didn’t share this with us. Howevever, we used our trucking industry expertise to figure out some chages that will hold you back. See next.
What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?
All of the jobs involve heavy equipment and/or driving, so any substance abuse offenses will probably be held against you. They may also be concerned with any offenses having to do with a vehicle.
Sex offenses on your record can bar you because of state law restrictions. Finally, people who have been convicted of theft may also have a hard time getting hired at TransAm Trucking.
Trucking companies want to be certain that their cargo is safe and therefore often resist hiring people convicted of stealing.
Does TransAm Trucking hire sex offenders?
They might, but it’s an unknown at this point. The company hasn’t said, and we couldn’t find any reliable responses.
Does TransAm Trucking drug test?
They do! It’s actually usually required by law that trucking companies test applicants before finalizing a hire.
