As changes are being made regarding how far back background checks go, there are now some states that will see an offense only if it’s less than seven years old. Here are those states:
- New Hampshire*
- New York*

There are also states that will only see guilty convictions. They’re as follows:

- New York
Some states haven’t changed. The following states will still look at everything:
- Indiana (extensive check)
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- West Virginia
