KLLM Hiring Overview For 2023

Official company policy for hiring felons

As always, we went directly to the company to find out what they would tell us about their policies. However, as of this point, they have not gotten back to us. We will keep contacting them with the hopes of getting more up-to-date information.

We did do some independent research in the hopes of learning more, though! Unfortunately, there is nothing conclusive on their policy for hiring former felons.

 Has KLLM hired felons in the past?

At this time, we have not found evidence of any former offenders working at KLLM. This doesn’t mean that they don’t exist! It just means they may not have much of an online presence.

Does KLLM hire people with misdemeanors?

Though we haven’t found any former employees with misdemeanors, it doesn’t mean there aren’t any. In fact, companies are usually fairly receptive to hiring people with minor offenses.

As with any job, the company’s ultimate decision may depend on the specifics of your background.

Will KLLM hire you with pending charges?

There’s nothing out there about this, either from the company or from their employees. We’re not sure.

Is KLLM on the Ban the Box list?

If you have a record, you know all about the question on most job applications that requires you to disclose whether or not you’ve been convicted of a crime in the past. Unfortunately, these questions can lead to former felons getting disqualified before they’ve been given a real chance.

The Ban the Box movement aims to eliminate these questions, by getting companies that sign on to take away the section on criminal records.

There is also the Fair Chance Business Pledge. Companies that are a part of this program promise not to discriminate in their hiring practices, even if felonies are found during the background check.

KLLM Transport Services is not part of either initiative at this time.

Does KLLM have special programs for hiring felons?

No they don’t. The good news is that many companies without programs will still hire former offenders. In other words, it may still be possible to get a job at KLLM with a felony.

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired?

Because there isn’t a ton of information about KLLM online and we haven’t heard back from the company yet, there is still plenty we don’t know. What we have learned is that they’re not on the Ban the Box list, they don’t have a history of hiring former felons and they don’t have any special programs for doing so either.

Does KLLM hire felons, then?

From what we know now, your chances of getting hired are low. However, once the company gets back to us, that estimate may go up considerably!

What are some entry-level jobs?

As a trucking company, pretty much all of the jobs are for driving rigs. Trucking jobs tend to have inconsistent hours. You may work both days and nights, any day of the week. However, there are also national guidelines that make regular days off a legal requirement.

In other words, your schedule could change significantly on a weekly basis.

Tips to get hired here with a felony

When applying for jobs, the goal is to draw attention to your qualifications. How? Tailor each resume to the specific position that you are applying for.

In this case, any experience you have driving professionally (such as other trucking or transportation jobs) will be of benefit. However, if you don’t have that sort of background, there are other things you can use to prove you’re right for the job. For example, do you have a clean driving record? If you’ve never had an accident or traffic violation, that may wind up helping you to0 get hired.

You might even be able to reframe skills from unrelated jobs to prove how they apply to trucking. Maybe you developed a keen attention to detail while working in a factory. Or perhaps you learned to comply with local rules and ordinances while adapting to health code regulations at a restaurant. These are all skills that come up in trucking.

Once you’ve figured out what to write on your resume, you should perfect it. Have someone check your work before sending it out. If you live in a community with a career center, that might be a great way to polish your resume for free. However, even if you don’t have that, ask a friend or a family member.

If KLLM likes the application, they will ask you to sit for an interview. When that happens, you need to show up looking your best. Even though trucking companies aren’t known for their strict dress codes, it’s still a good idea to dress in quality and fairly conservative clothing.

Remember that confidence is key. Be prepared to brag about yourself a little bit. Your objective is to prove your qualifications, so don’t be shy!

KLLM does do background checks.

However, where you live will sharply impact what the company learns.

For example, in some places, background checks only go back seven years. This means that, in the following states, KLLM will only learn about things that happened in the last seven years:

*certain pay or salary bracket positions sometimes require one.

Other states won’t list crimes that you weren’t convicted of. In these states, only convictions will show up on your background check:

Company ratings

Glassdoor.com gave the company an average rating of 3.3 stars out of 5 possible, though they don’t have many reviews. Their highest score was 3.3 for compensation. Their lowest was 3.0 for work-life balance.

What felonies KLLM will not hire

Based on our research into this company and other logisitcs and trucking companies, there are definitely going to be charges that hold you back from cretain positions. However, we don’t have any blanket statement from the company about this.

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

Traffic violations of any kind are going to be a major concern for KLLM Transport Services. Most trucking companies prefer that you be several years removed from your last ticket, and a DUI may disqualify you completely.

However, sobriety is also very important to trucking companies. Consequently, if you have a history of substance abuse, they may also eliminate you from consideration.

Finally, trucks often carry very valuable cargo. As a result, KLLM might not consider your application if you have a history of theft.

Does KLLM hire sex offenders?

KLLM might hire people with sex offenses on record, but we haven’t heard anything about it if they have. We just can’t say.

Does KLLM drug test?
