If you are interested in a career and not just another job, then you may have considered DuPont. But does DuPont hire felons?

At Relaunch Pad, we research companies in-depth to find answers to questions like this, and more. After all, the majority of us have been exactly where you are. That’s right! Most of us are convicted felons, too, so we know the struggle of finding a job with a felony.

That is why we attempted to contact DuPont directly to ask them about their hiring policy for former felons. Unfortunately, we were unable to make contact with them; however, we will continue to try and reach them. In the meantime, we have conducted our own research in order to bring you the best information possible on how to get hired at DuPont.

Here are some important questions we will be answering for you:

  • What is DuPont’s hiring policy?
  • Does DuPont hire people with misdemeanors?
  • What is the best approach?
  • Does DuPont do background checks?

So let’s get started and see what we found about how to get a job at DuPont with a felony.

Does DuPont hire felons?

Official company policy for hiring felons

The only response we received from DuPont was:

“Each individual needs to apply online and each case is reviewed on an individual basis.”

But does DuPont hire felons? We dug around to see what we can find.

Has DuPont hired felons in the past?

Unfortunately, there was nothing found that provided us with a simple yes or no to this question.

Does DuPont hire people with misdemeanors?

We’re not sure. We couldn’t find any evidence, either way. Our recommendation is to give the hiring process your very best effort, anyway.

What are the chances of DuPont hiring a felon?

Is DuPont on the Ban the Box list?

Wouldn’t it be great if there wasn’t an area on job applications asking about your criminal history? Well, that’s the sole purpose of the Ban the Box campaign. It was designed with former felons in mind, urging employers to remove these questions.

The Fair Chance Business Pledge is made by companies devoted to practicing fair hiring policies for everyone — former felon or not. The goal of the Pledge is to provide a fair chance at employment that’s based on skills, not on criminal records.

DuPont does not support either of these programs.

Let’s continue on our journey to see what we found about who they’ll hire!

Does DuPont have programs for hiring felons?

DuPont is not a company that offers these programs.

But, don’t despair. We want you to know there are several programs and agencies that will help former felons.

Check this one out:

Vocational Rehabilitation — Offers assistance with clothing, work clothing, school, and start-up money for a business.

Remember, a company doesn’t have to offer these programs to hire felons; it’s just a perk!

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired?

Uncertain likelihood of hiring felons

Honestly, the odds of a former felon getting hired at DuPont are uncertain. There wasn’t anything specific we found that would prevent a former felon from getting hired, really. It just might be possible for a qualified former felon to get hired, depending on the job, their experience and an attention-getting resume.

How to get hired at DuPont with a felony

What are some entry-level jobs?

DuPont has many job possibilities, but very few are entry-level. This means experience will be on your side.

Here are a couple of jobs with minimum requirements and experience:

  • Administrative Assistant — This job requires basic office skills and a high school diploma or a GED. Three years of experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Warehouse Inventory Coordinator — Must be able to perform daily inventory reports and provide great telephone and communication skills. A two-year technical degree is a bonus.

DuPont has many job offers, so if you have more in-depth experience and education, be sure to take a look at their job listings for a full list of opportunities.

Tips to get hired here with a felony

We are still determined to help you get a job at DuPont with a felony. According to the response we were provided, you need to apply like any other applicant. Seeing that their entry-level positions are limited, it may be difficult for someone with a criminal record to be hired here. But don’t let that stop you — let that motivate you!

Our recommended approach is to make sure you have the skills required for the job you’ve selected. Then dress your resume up using our tips to help you land an interview.

The interview would be the best time to address your criminal history. Be prepared to give solid examples of how you have changed and why they should hire you.

This is the time to use your experiences there to your advantage. During your incarceration, you learned communication and coping skills. Maybe you have skills managing inventory? Highlight those skills for the job you are applying for so they easily see why you’re qualified.

Does DuPont do background checks?

DuPont makes it crystal clear that a background check and drug screen will be performed.

Something to keep in mind regarding background checks:

There are many states that now only look at an offense if it is less than seven years old. The following are those states:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Kansas
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New York
  • Texas
  • Washington

The eight states below don’t look at anything you were not convicted of:

  • Alaska
  • California
  • Hawaii
  • Indiana
  • Kentucky
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • New York

Unfortunately, there are some states that still look at everything. The following are those states:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Connecticut
  • DC
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Idaho
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Louisiana
  • Maine
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • New Jersey
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

Company ratings

Glassdoor.com rates DuPont with a 3.6 stars out of 5, while indeed.com has them rated 4.0 out of 5 stars.

Looking at each of these sites, we learned DuPont was praised for being a wonderful place to work with great benefits. Most complaints centered around management and the short breaks given.

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

It looks like any felony conviction may have difficulty getting hired at DuPont.

But we reviewed DuPont’s core values, and here are a few felonies we think may have an even harder time getting hired:

  • Any drug conviction might be looked at closely. DuPont makes it clear they are big on safety.
  • Violent crimes will probably have an equally difficult time getting hired. DuPont prides itself on their safety and respect of people.
  • Theft convictions are also likely to be frowned upon. Not only do they promote safety but also ethics.

Does DuPont drug test?

Yes. Our research showed that DuPont also performs random drug screens on a monthly basis.
