We are sad to say that we were unable to reach anyone at Wendy’s. We’ll continue to try and make contact, don’t worry. While we wait for a response, we’ve done our own research to bring you answers to the questions mentioned above and more!

We didn’t find anything that suggested they have a specific hiring policy for felons. But this is what we learned from looking at Wendy’s website:

“Wendy’s franchises are independent business owners with authority to make all employment decisions, including related to hiring.”

When researching to see if Wendy’s has previously hired people with felonies, we found online responses saying both yes and no. This supports their statement that hiring decisions are made by the owner of each location.

Does Wendy’s hire people with misdemeanors?

We couldn’t find anything that spoke directly on this topic. The answer is likely the same as the above: It’s up to the owner at that location.

Is Wendy’s on the Ban the Box list?

As a former felon, it can be very discouraging having to answer questions about previous convictions on applications. The great news is there are now initiatives that are urging employers to remove them from job applications. This is the sole purpose of the Ban the Box campaign. In turn, it makes it a lot easier for former offenders to land a job — one based off their abilities and skills, not their criminal record.

The Fair Chance Business Pledge is the agreement made by companies that have volunteered to commit to fair hiring practices for everyone, including former felons.

Does Wendy’s hire felons? Our research shows the odds of getting hired at Wendy’s with a felony are uncertain. We don’t have information from the company and found nothing concrete online. But we believe there is a chance for you to be hired, even with a felony conviction, because each location can decide for itself.

What are some entry-level jobs?

Wendy’s has several jobs to choose from. The qualifications weren’t made clear for management positions, but we know what it their main entry-level position asks for:

  • Crew Member — Part- and full-time hours. Duties include: Assisting customers, handling payments and register, preparing food, taking orders, stocking, and cleaning.

Wendy’s is a company that is mostly made up of franchises. This means each location is owned by a different person. With this in mind, remember the requirements for employment may vary for each store.

Interview

Looking at Wendy’s reviews on glassdoor.com, we found that they were rated with 3.1 out of 5 stars. This is actually a good score for a fast food joint!

You can expect to get discounts and promotions from within! If you can handle the long hours being on your feet, this seems to be a great environment to work in.

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

Since we all know Wendy’s is in the customer service business, if you have a violent or a sexual offense on your record, you may have a hard time getting hired here.

Each job will require you to handle money and credit cards, so theft or fraudulent use of a credit card charges might also make it difficult for you to land the job.

Does Wendy’s drug test?

We found very little proof that Wendy’s drug screens. This may vary for each location, so our best advice would be that you are prepared.
