We know that TruGreen may not hire applicants with felonies on their records. However, online sources show that they’ll hire those with misdemeanors. It looks like they go on a case-by-case basis.
Is TruGreen on the Ban the Box list?
Ban the Box is a campaign to ban the felony and misdemeanor box that appears on many job applications. The Fair Chance Business Pledge is also a part of this campaign. Employers who take this pledge are urged to look past an applicant’s criminal background and focus on their strengths and work ethic.

Our Relaunch Pad team did some online research and found out that your odds of getting hired at TruGreen with a felony are low. They aren’t on the Ban the Box list and don’t generally hire felons.
However, your chances of getting hired at TruGreen with misdemeanor might be better since they look at those applications on a case-by-case basis.
What are some entry-level jobs?
Entry-level positions at TruGreen include:
- Data Entry Operator — Duties are to input sales, production or accounts receivable data into a computer or other business machine.
- Customer Service Representative — Employees in this position will receive calls to assist customer concerns in a timely and professional matter.
- Warehouse Technician — This job assists operations personnel with vehicle and small equipment repairs, filling trucks with fuel, and other warehouse responsibilities.
- Field Sales — Field sales consists of selling residential lawn care services to new and existing customers door-to-door.
These positions are a great way to move ahead in your career. You’ll learn your job plus the day-to-day company operations, giving you an advantage for reviews and promotions.
How to get hired at TruGreen with a felony
Now that we know TruGreen most likely won’t hire felons but will hire people with misdemeanors, you’re wondering how to apply. Let’s take a moment to find out what will help your chances.
Be sure your resume is current. If you need additional help, Relaunch Pad has a resume guide just for felons. Take the time to correct grammatical or punctuation errors, as well. Local high schools or employment agencies can help you here, so take advantage.
Once your resume is in order, you’ll need to visit TruGreen’s career page for available positions. After you have located the desired position in your area, you’ll fill out the online application.
When it comes to the interview, you should consider the following:
- It’s a good rule of thumb to arrive at an interview 15 minutes early. If that’s not possible, be on time.
- Have a professional look with clean, wrinkle-free clothes and nicely styled hair.
- If you have any tattoos, piercings or augmentations, cover or hide them the best you can. You can always discuss the company’s policy on these things at the end of the interview.
- Keep a positive attitude and mannerisms. Being polite will go a long way.
- Don’t try to hide your past. Honesty is always the best policy. You don’t want the company to find out you weren’t telling the truth about something and potentially losing any shot at a job with them.

We researched TruGreen’s reputation online. According to glassdoor.com, they have a rating of 3.1 stars out of 5 from 1,249 reviews. Many of the positive reviews say the pay and benefits are good. Most of the negative reviews are complaints about the long hours and only having Sundays off.

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?
Does TruGreen hire felons? While they don’t generally hire felons, there are a couple of felonies that could make the process even harder. For example:
- Any violent criminal history will make it hard to get a job with TruGreen because you’ll be frequently dealing with the general public.
- Driving-related felonies will also make it difficult since you may be required to drive a company vehicle.
- Theft crimes could also be problematic because there may be times when you’ll be asked to handle cash or credit card information.
Since we know TruGreen will hire those with misdemeanors on a case-by-case basis, if your conviction is something smaller, be honest with them. It’ll help your chances of getting hired.
Does TruGreen drug test?
We don’t have firsthand knowledge on this. However, sources say TruGreen requires a drug test after a job offer has been accepted. They will also drug test if there is an accident in a company vehicle or during business hours.
