Ban the Box is a list of companies that have committed to removing the checkbox from applications asking if you’ve been convicted of any crimes.

The Fair Chance Business Pledge is similar to this. It’s a promise made by employers not to judge you based on any past convictions, but on your skills and talents instead.

LKQ doesn’t participate in either of these programs, but we took it upon ourselves to check out their online applications. While most of their applications don’t ask about convictions, they do ask about driving convictions for driving positions.

Does LKQ have special programs for hiring felons?

LKQ doesn’t have any special hiring programs for ex-offenders at this time. That’s okay, because most companies don’t. If you’re interested in something like this, we suggest checking with your local unemployment office or workforce development agency for more information.

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired?

After plenty of research, we give your odds of getting hired at LKQ with a felony as high. They aren’t on the Ban the Box list and our sources don’t confirm either way if they’ll hire those with a conviction on their record. However, if you’re willing to work and put in the extra effort, you may be able to land an entry-level position. A lot of reports online support this!

What are some entry-level jobs?

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

Does LKQ hire felons? We aren’t sure. However, there are some felonies that’ll hurt your chances even more.

Violent crimes might rule you out because you’ll be working closely with co-workers. Theft could also pose a problem since you’ll be working directly with automotive parts. The big one is going to be driving convictions, including DUIs, for driving positions.

Does LKQ hire sex offenders?

We’re not sure, but we know this is a very hard charge to overcome in the job hunt. Best to be prepared to explain.

Does LKQ drug test?

Yes. You must agree to a drug test on the application, so be prepared.
