“CTG complies with applicable local, state, and federal laws concerning equal opportunity for job seekers. We are an IT solutions and services company, and the majority of our employees are working on projects for our customers.
Most of CTG’s clients do require a completed background check, but each client has different background check criteria. Therefore, job offers for these positions are contingent on successful completion of a background investigation. Hiring is not completed until a background check report is complete. All background check decisions are made based on the client’s and CTG’s requirements.”
We know that might be a confusing answer. That’s because CTG only hires people their clients need.
For example, CTG may have a healthcare system as a client. If that healthcare system needs someone to test its new software, it will let CTG know. CTG will then hire someone to do the work for the healthcare system, but the person they hire needs to pass the background check required by the healthcare system.
Have they hired felons in the past?
Computer Task Group did not comment directly about whether or not they have previously hired felons. We have spoken to a former felon who was hired by CTG for a major technology company.
The former felon did end up getting hired after answering all conviction-related questions honestly, though they were later released once the client (not CTG) found out about their felony conviction.
So, CTG will hire former felons, but their clients decide whether or not you stay on.
Does Computer Task Group hire people with misdemeanors?
CTG did not mention hiring those with misdemeanors, though we are sure they will since they have hired felons to perform work. Again, this will be up to CTG’s clients.
Is Computer Task Group on the Ban the Box list?
Have you heard of the Ban the Box campaign? It is a movement that has been spearheaded by civil rights groups that, along with the Fair Chance Business Pledge, try to end discrimination from employers against those with a record.
Ban the Box has been successful in getting many companies to remove the criminal background questions from their application process. The Pledge has been successful in encouraging businesses to give those with convictions more job opportunities.
We could not find any information about whether CTG has “banned the box” but, again, this will depend on each individual client they work with.
Does Computer Task Group have any special programs for hiring felons?
We could not find any programs offered by Computer Task Group that focus on helping former felons get a job with the company. Please make a point to check with job placement agencies and workforce centers in your area, as they are usually equipped with information that specifically helps those with a record get a job.

We think there are average odds of getting hired at CTG with a felony. We know they have hired felons in the past, so that is a plus.

How to get hired at Computer Task Group with a felony
Computer Task Group focuses on hiring people that their clients need. Basically, when a client tells CTG what they are looking for, CTG puts out the job description for them.
When you apply, you are essentially applying to a company other than CTG, though you will be paid through CTG. Temp agencies all work similarly in that regard.

When asked about your experience, think about your total work experience, not just official jobs you’ve held. Think about the skills you learned in prison. If you worked as a clerk or librarian, you learned organizational skills. You also learned how to communicate with different types of people: those in authority as well as peers.
Their hiring process seems to be as follows:
- You submit your resume and application for the position you want.
- You are contacted by a recruiter with CTG if you are a good fit for an initial interview.
- Usually, there is a follow-up interview with CTG or the client they are hiring for.
- You receive an answer within a few days to a week about whether they have decided to hire you or not.
Our research shows that most interviews are conducted over the phone or over Skype.
Answer truthfully and don’t shy away from discussing your convictions. If asked, admit that you’ve made mistakes in the past and explain that you believe you are capable of performing the work required.
Phone or Skype interviews can be intimidating but treat them just like an in-person interview. Make sure you are groomed appropriately and are well-dressed if you are doing a video interview.

As we’ve said, this depends on the clients CTG is hiring for. There is a good chance that they will perform a background check, likely relating to the particular state the client is located in.

Company ratings
Computer Task Group has a pretty good rating on the website glassdoor.com. Overall, they have a 3.5 score out of a possible 5 and 67% of people say they would recommend working there to a friend.
People praise the collaborative work environment and the ability to work from pretty much anywhere. Most people liked that CTG works with reputable clients such as IBM. This helps with job security.
We did find complaints about contracts abruptly ending. It seems that this, again, has to do with the clients that CTG contracts with. We also found complaints about slow email response times from management. As a former felon, these are not things you need to worry about. Getting a job here seems like it could be a great opportunity.
What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?
You may still be wondering, does Computer Task Group hire felons? Again, this will be on a case-by-case basis depending on individual clients, but we do want to talk about some charges that could keep you from working here.
Since this is pretty much all computer work, computer crimes will likely be frowned upon. In particular, companies may be wary of hiring those convicted of hacking or online fraud charges. Identity theft charges could keep you from getting hired.
Charges involving Internet sex crimes will also be scrutinized, as well.
If you have been convicted of any charges related to security or fraud, you may not get a job at CTG considering you will be working with sensitive information and personal data.
