We asked TSC about their background check process as well. They said:
Background checks are conducted on all new hires, regardless of position. The background check is conducted after a conditional offer of employment is extended.
Here are some things to keep in mind regarding background checks:
These states will see it only if the offense is less than seven years old:
- California
- Colorado*
- Kansas*
- Maryland*
- Massachusetts
- Montana
- Nevada
- New Hampshire*
- New York*
- Texas*
- Washington*
(*certain pay or salary bracket positions require a screening.)
Here are the few states that see only guilty convictions:
- Alaska
- California
- Hawaii
- Indiana (limited check)
- Kentucky
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- New York
And sadly some states will still look at everything. Here are those states:
- Alabama
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Connecticut
- DC
- Delaware
- Florida
- Idaho
- Indiana (extensive check)
- Iowa
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- New Jersey
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Utah
- Vermont
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
Company ratings
Glassdoor ranks TSC at 3.2 out of 5 stars. The highest marks come from great customers and other team members. However, staffing issues and upper management seem to be the top complaints.
What felonies Tractor Supply Co will not hire
There’s no list of felony charges that will prevent you from being hired that TSC shared with us. Looks like it’s individually assessed!
What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?
Here’s what the company had to say about the barriers former offenders face applying at TSC:
“Keep in mind that, as a retailer, our Store Team Members interact closely with the public and our customers, and Store positions involve receiving and handling money and credit card information. We have a legitimate interest in loss prevention, preventing theft, ensuring the safety of everyone on our worksites, and in a drug free workplace. The total picture of the candidate is considered to determine if their conviction indicates a risk to our the interests.”
Does Tractor Supply Co hire sex offenders?
We aren’t sure, but they’re more concerned about theft and trust. If you can show you’re trustworthy, you may well get hired.
Does Tractor Supply Co drug test?
Unfortunately, this is another question that is still up in the air. Simply put — proceed as if they do.
