What are the chances of Potland Bottling Co hiring a felon?

Is Portland Bottling Co on the Ban the Box list?

The Ban the Box campaign was designed to assist former felons in having a fighting chance at being hired despite their criminal record. Ban the Box recognizes the difficulties that individuals with a record have in trying to get back into the workforce.

Their main goal is to convince employers to remove all questions from their applications dealing with prior convictions. Once those questions are removed, the employer isn’t blinded by the applicant’s record. Instead, they see only the qualifications, which in turn gives the former felon a fair chance at being hired.

The Fair Chance Business Pledge is also a support group pulling for former felons trying to get back on their feet. The Pledge is an agreement made by employers who are willing to commit to fair hiring practices for everyone — even if you have a previous conviction.

PBC unfortunately doesn’t support either of these groups, however keep in mind that most companies don’t and it isn’t a requirement for hiring a former offender.

Does Portland Bottling Co have special programs for hiring felons?

PBC doesn’t offer any of these special programs.

PBC’s website has a rundown of their current positions.

All of their jobs require a High School diploma or a GED. Check out some examples below:

  • Batching Technician — Prepares and monitors raw materials. Cleaning and sanitizing utensils will be a must, as will being able to properly fill out production paperwork.
  • Production Assistant — This job operates the machines and keeps them functioning.
