“Each store owner determines their hiring policy. They are required to follow all state and federal guidelines.”

It’s a little bit vague, right? But it’s also good news for you. Since hiring is left up to the stores to decide, you only need to worry about impressing the hiring manager.

Have they hired felons in the past?

When we reached out to Orange Julius to ask if they have hired felons in the past, their answer was unclear. Rather than saying one way or another, they replied that each store follows their own hiring policy.

However, we do know from outside sources that former felons have gotten employment at Orange Julius in the past.

Does Orange Julius hire people with misdemeanors?

Of course, former felonies are not the only issues that can hold someone back during a job hunt. Lesser offenses can also be a problem.

Again, it is hard to say if Orange Julius will hire someone with a misdemeanor. Since each store makes their own hiring decisions, the answer is that they probably have hired people with misdemeanors in the past.

Is Orange Julius on the Ban the Box list?

The Ban the Box movement is a product of the Obama administration. The purpose is to remove questions about criminal records from job applications. The goal is to let former felons apply for jobs with the skills of their present, without being held back by the mistakes of their past.

Unfortunately, Orange Julius has not signed the pledge.

There is also an initiative called the Fair Chance Business Pledge. This is a promise to grant equal opportunities for people with a criminal record. Employers who take this pledge promise to hire former felons, remove obstacles for them and encourage others to do the same.

Orange Julius has not taken this pledge. However, they do have to follow the rules of the eleven states (California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington) that have Ban the Box laws.

Does Orange Julius have special programs for hiring felons?

Unfortunately, Orange Julius does not have special programs for hiring felons. Does this mean that you won’t be able to get a job at Orange Julius with a felony? No. What it does mean is that it is hard to say how easy it will be.

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired?

The answer is uncertain. We aren’t sure what the odds of you getting hired at a specific location are.

In the Ban the Box states, you are going to have the same odds as anyone else of getting an interview. In the rest of the country, it will be up to the individual owner of the store.

The lack of a corporate policy could work in your favor. Unfortunately, you will not benefit from any requirements to hire former felons. However, you also will not be held back by corporate restrictions.

In other words, if you can impress the manager, you will have a good chance of getting hired.

At Orange Julius, there are lots of entry-level positions. The company has employees doing everything from cooking to customer service to manning the cash register.

Most of the entry-level positions do not require much in terms of past experience. However, if you have worked in the food industry before, it helps. Since this is a customer service industry, it will also help to have people skills.
