As always, we went directly to the company to find out about their policy for hiring felons. Unfortunately, they have not yet responded to our requests for further information. We will keep asking, though.

We’ve done a little bit of independent research to get some answers, so don’t worry! While we cannot speak for the company, our research indicates that they don’t have any policies that will specifically prevent former felons from finding work at the company.

Has Emerson hired felons in the past?

We also made a point of trying to find out if Emerson has hired former felons in the past. Unfortunately, they have not yet had the chance to respond to us and we couldn’t find any strong answers online.

Does Emerson hire people with misdemeanors?

This is another item we don’t know, unfortunately. We couldn’t find anything definitive nor did we hear from the company.

Will Emerson hire you with pending charges?

Emerson may want to wait until your charges are resolved to hire you. They didn’t say how they viewed pending charges, and we saw no reports online about it.

Is Emerson on the Ban the Box list?

The Ban the Box movement is designed to eliminate questions about a candidate’s criminal history from job applications. This means that if you have a criminal record you won’t have to mention it when you apply for jobs.

There are also companies out there that promise not to discriminate based on an applicant’s work history. These companies sign what is called the Fair Chance Business Pledge.

Unfortunately, Emerson is not involved in either movement. This is not necessarily bad news: Many companies that don’t participate in either initiative are completely willing to hire former felons.

This is mostly because we have not heard from the company yet and the fact that we didn’t see online reports about it. If they respond to our request for more information there, we’ll be able to update our information and possibly upgrade your chances of getting hired. Until then, it’s difficult to say anything with confidence.

What are some entry-level jobs?

The jobs at Emerson are highly technical. Nearly all of their positions require knowledge of the electric field. That being the case, they’re best suited for people with an appropriate background. This means if you’ve worked electric jobs in the past, you will have an advantage over other candidates.

The various positions will each feature their own hours. However, most jobs seem to feature hours seven days a week. Many of their jobs are in HVAC, electric, or appliance repair. All of the jobs are very technical.

Tips to get hired here with a felony

Because Emerson is a highly technical company, getting hired will be mostly a result of your work experience. You’ll need to prove that you have relevant work experience.

To do this, you need to highlight your experience in the electric field. If you’ve ever worked as an electrician or even performed technical tasks as a contractor, the experience will be to your benefit. In any case, standing out begins by submitting a good resume. A career center can be a great way to highlight relevant experience and show your worth to the company.

If you don’t have access to professionals, you can also enlist friends or family to help go over your resume.

If you’re able to craft a good application, you’ll be asked to come in for an interview. There are some key ways to prepare yourself for this part. First thing’s first, you will need to show up to the interview looking as professional as possible.

Dress clothes are a crucial component of impressing the interviewer. However, you will also need to cover tattoos and piercings to further ensure that the person interviewing you leaves impressed.

Above all else, though, just remember to relax. They called you in for your interview for a reason, so be confident in your ability to wow them!
