Emerson is an electric company with many jobs for qualified candidates. If you have the right experience, you may be wondering: Does Emerson hire felons?

These are the types of questions you need to ask yourself at all times if you’re hitting the job market with a felony on your record. At Relaunch Pad, we understand that acclimating to life outside of jail is unfairly hard. We do our best to make things a little bit easier by providing the best information we can about potential job opportunities.

To do this, we go directly to employers asking them their policies on hiring former felons.

We also ask a series of other important questions such as the following:

  • Does Emerson do background checks?
  • Does Emerson hire people with misdemeanors?
  • Will they test for drugs?

So, without further ado, read on for information that may help you figure out how to get a job at Emerson with a felony.

Does Emerson hire felons?

Official company policy for hiring felons

As always, we went directly to the company to find out about their policy for hiring felons. Unfortunately, they have not yet responded to our requests for further information. We will keep asking, though.

We’ve done a little bit of independent research to get some answers, so don’t worry! While we cannot speak for the company, our research indicates that they don’t have any policies that will specifically prevent former felons from finding work at the company.

Has Emerson hired felons in the past?

We also made a point of trying to find out if Emerson has hired former felons in the past. Unfortunately, they have not yet had the chance to respond to us.

Until then, we have done our own research to answer this question. From what we can see, they do not have a policy prohibiting them from hiring people with felonies. We can’t say for sure what their exact policy is, but it at least looks like you will have a chance with this company.

Does Emerson hire people with misdemeanors?

While we cannot say specifically, most companies that will hire former felons will also hire people with misdemeanors.

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired at Emerson?

Is Emerson on the Ban the Box list?

The Ban the Box movement is designed to eliminate questions about a candidate’s criminal history from job applications. This means that if you have a criminal record you won’t have to mention it when you apply for jobs.

There are also companies out there that promise not to discriminate based on an applicant’s work history. These companies sign what is called the Fair Chance Business Pledge.

Unfortunately, Emerson is not involved in either movement. This is not necessarily bad news: Many companies that don’t participate in either initiative are completely willing to hire former felons.

Does Emerson have special programs for hiring felons?

Believe it or not, there are some companies that actually make a special point of hiring former felons. Unfortunately, Emerson is not one of those companies.

What are the odds someone with a felony will get hired?

Uncertain likelihood of hiring felons

Does Emerson hire felons? Based on everything that we know, we can only say that your chances are uncertain. This is mostly because we have not heard from the company yet and the fact that online reports conflicted. If they respond to our request for more information there, we’ll be able to update our information and possibly upgrade your chances of getting hired. Until then, it’s difficult to say anything with confidence.

How to get hired at Emerson with a felony

What are some entry-level jobs?

The jobs at Emerson are highly technical. Nearly all of their positions require knowledge of the electric field. That being the case, they’re best suited for people with an appropriate background. This means if you’ve worked electric jobs in the past, you will have an advantage over other candidates.

The various positions will each feature their own hours. However, most jobs seem to feature hours seven days a week. Many of their jobs are in HVAC, electric, or appliance repair. All of the jobs are very technical.

How to get hired at Emerson with a felony

Because Emerson is a highly technical company, getting hired will be mostly a result of your work experience. You’ll need to prove that you have relevant work experience.

To do this, you need to highlight your experience in the electric field. If you’ve ever worked as an electrician or even performed technical tasks as a contractor, the experience will be to your benefit. In any case, standing out begins by submitting a good resume. A career center can be a great way to highlight relevant experience and show your worth to the company.

If you don’t have access to professionals, you can also enlist friends or family to help go over your resume.

If you’re able to craft a good application, you’ll be asked to come in for an interview. There are some key ways to prepare yourself for this part. First things first, you will need to show up to the interview looking as professional as possible.

Dress clothes are a crucial component of impressing the interviewer. However, you will also need to cover tattoos and piercings to further ensure that the person interviewing you leaves impressed.

Above all else, though, just remember to relax. They called you in for your interview for a reason, so be confident in your ability to wow them!

Does Emerson do background checks?

Based on what we were able to find, it appears that Emerson will do background checks. It’s all part of what you have to do to get a job at Emerson with a felony.

However, the state you live in can have a major impact on what the company learns.

For example, if you live in any of the states that follow, Emerson will not learn anything at all about crimes that happened more than seven years ago:

  • California
  • Colorado*
  • Kansas*
  • Maryland*
  • Massachusetts
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire*
  • New York*
  • Texas*
  • Washington*

  • Alaska
  • California
  • Hawaii
  • Indiana (limited check)
  • Kentucky
  • Massachusetts
  • Michigan
  • New York

What felony convictions might have a hard time getting hired here?

Since we have not heard from the company yet, it’s a little bit difficult to say exactly what they look for in a candidate. However, companies that deal with customers are reluctant to hire violent or sexual offenders. If there’s any theft charges in your history, Emerson might take notice of that as well.
